Electron Microscopy Unit

The Electron Microscopy Unit (EMU) is a core facility at the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg for analytical scanning- and transmission electron microscopy.

The Electron Microscopy Unit has access to a variety of techniques for preparation and analysis, e.g. immunolocalisation, cytochemistry, quantitative image analysis, elemental analysis, negative staining and methods for optimal morphological preservation for SEM and TEM. PhD courses and personal guidance in electron microscopy are also offered at EMU.

The collaboration with EMU has consisted of analysis of images from both scanning- and transmission electron microscopy. The images showed the progressive growth of ovarian cancer cells in preclinical studies. Some of the results have been published in The Journal of Nuclear Medicine and The International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology and Physics.
